Dear Friends:
On Behalf of Mrs. Carol Block, we are coordinating 20 fellow Bruins (faculty, alumni, students, and staff) to volunteer on June 27, 2009 at the Los Angeles Regional FoodBank from 8:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is a non-profit, charitable organization established in 1973, and is one of the largest food banks in the United States . Through a network of 900 charitable agency sites located throughout Los Angeles County , and other Foodbank programs, the Foodbank supplies enough food for over 525,000 meals each week. For more information about the Food Bank, please visit their web site at http://www.lafoodbank.org/.
In 2008, during the holidays, 40 Bruin Volunteers put together more than 5,000 Food Kits, which benefited close to 3,000 senior citizens throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. These volunteer efforts are reflective of the true Bruin Spirit, and UCLA's commitment to civic engagement.
Please join us for this exciting opportunity to give back to our community. Should we receive an overwhelming response, we will try to work with the Foodbank to accommodate your request.
