Chancellor Block Visits Sacramento for Legislative Meetings

Chancellor Gene Block traveled to Sacramento on Monday, February 2, 2009 for his annual advocacy day with our state elected officials. The day consisted of a morning briefing with the University, Office of the President, followed by a series of meetings with legislators who serve on the budget, education, and environmental committees, as well as leadership members in both the Assembly and Senate. The discussions centered around the budget and the effect that more cuts will have on the quality of education in California .
The day ended with a dinner hosted by Chancellor Block and the UCLA State Government Relations department on the terrace of the new Citizen Hotel. During the dinner, Dr. Ed Leamer Director of the Anderson Forecast at UCLA provided an insightful look at the state of the economy in California . The event was attended by Sacramento area Burins, state legislators and their staff, as well as members of the University Office of the President.
