Summer Youth Employment Program Begins

July 17, 2006

Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa and the Community Development Department of the City of Los Angeles have announced the HIRE LA's Youth 2006 summer jobs program. For many years, UCLA has been a major participant in this summer youth program by placing youth workers in jobs with departments throughout the campus. The interaction has been life changing for the youth workers and, in addition to a little extra help, a rewarding civic duty and experience for the campus.

The Community Based Learning (CBL) office and Office of Instructional Development (OID), in conjunction with  the Community & Local Government Relations unit of Government & Community Relations (GCR) and a team of campus departments that includes Campus Human Resources, Medical Center Human Resources and the Career Center, will manage the summer program and provide campus-wide job placement for over one-hundred youth workers.
