Summer Youth Employment Program Caps Off Another Successful Year

August 22, 2006

On Thursday, August 17,  2006, representatives from the Mayor's office, the Board of Supervisors and the City Council came to campus to congratulate high school students for their participation in UCLA's Summer Youth program.  John S. Brady, representing Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for the West Los Angeles community, was joined by Del Huff from County Supervisor Yvonne Burke's office and Christine Dixon from Councilman Bernard Parks' office  in handing out certificates of completion to over 100 students who gained work experience at UCLA as well as in offices in West Los Angeles. This successful program is a collaborative effort led by Mary Keipp and Pam Schachter of the UCLA Office of Instructional Development with the help of UCLA Government and Community Relations.
