League of California Cities Annual Conference
September 29 , 2006
The League of California Cities recently held their annual conference bringing together local government and community leaders to further the common interests of their cities and citizens. Hosted by the City of San Diego on September 6-9, the 2006 Annual Conference boasted attendance of more than a 1,000 electeds, city administrators and university staff from across the State of California seeking best practices in how to address, among other things, town and gown related issues.
A partner of the League, UCLA was proud to participate in the conference as well as co-host the " Death by Chocolate " reception along with , our neighbors to the North, UC Davis. During the conference, Community & Local Government Relations staff participated in forums on legislative and policy advocacy, and discussions regarding transportation, housing, day labor, economic development and many other significant concerns to local government. As one of the largest employers in the Los Angeles area, as well as a hub for research, education, and the future generations of the world, UCLA has taken the initiative to pro-actively work with governmental entities and communities to ensure the quality of life for all residents.
