Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent Brewer to Campus

Superintendent David Brewer visited UCLA on May 31, 2007. He first met with Dean Aimee Dorr of the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Janina Montero and UCLA faculty and staff to hear about resources available to him during his tenure as Superintendent of Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

Brewer learned first hand about UCLA's effective early academic programs such as the Institute for Democracy, Education & Access (IDEA), Early Academic Outreach Programs, Center X and the School Management Program that could be expanded and/or replicated within LAUSD. Government & Community Relations would like to thank Jeannie Oakes, Debra Pounds , Jody Priselac , Nancy Parachini, Eloise Lopez Metcalfe and Dan Chernow for participating.

After the Superintendent's meeting with the larger group he met privately with Acting Chancellor Norm Abrams to discuss shared interests in improving K-12 public schools district-wide and to explore possible new partnerships.
