Rep. Brad Sherman Honors Coach Wooden

On October 14, 2006, t he U.S. Post al Service delivered a special 96th birthday greeting to UCLA's one and only Coach John Wooden. As a result of legislation authored by UCLA alumnus Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), the Reseda Post Office was dedicated to Coach Wooden during a ceremony attended by more than 300 family, friends, former UCLA basketball players, alumni, elected officials, and community leaders. The UCLA Alumni Band, Spirit Squad, and mascots participated in the festivities, bringing the Bruin spirit to the San Fernando Valley. The U.S. Postal Service offered a limited edition pictorial postmark in commemoration of the dedication.
